Fishing
The evening activities at New River’s Edge were initially established for the fisherman in mind. A day’s trip fishing on the New River can be, and often is, spectacular. But the evening can be nothing short of magical. Wade fishing using top water lures in the late evening hours often produce explosive results around the islands at New River’s Edge.
(Special advisory from the captain - if you have heart trouble, participate at your own risk.)

Note from the Captain: New River’s Edge guests agree to abide by strict adherence to catch and release practice. Plenty of pictures will be taken to remember your catch. Plan your day on the river before retiring to the cabin.

Get a Load of These Great Catches of 2005

The New River in Giles County Virginia awaits you. It is everyones responsibility to RESPECT HER AND PROTECT HER. We strongly encourage Catch & Release of All Smallmouth Bass. A camera will be provided for you to capture the excitement and memories of your trophy forever. Plus the hope of reliving it all again and again.

PLEASE CATCH & RELEASE SMALLMOUTH BASS.

The New River itself at our location is relatively shallow – one to three feet – for nearly half of the river. This makes an ideal setting comfortable for the beginner as well as the experienced river enthusiast. Lounging in the shallow waters on a tube reading a book is a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon.

In the evening, have a bonfire and roast marshmellows, make sm'ores, roast weinies and catch fireflies.

Or better yet, go wade fishing! Bring your gear because you won't want to miss the opportunity to catch some of the largest smallmouths in the state. (8 lb. 2 oz St record) Virginia fishing license required.

Our goal is good old fashioned fun in a safe and friendly environment. No drugs, no foul language, no littering and catch and release of smallmouth bass. Please police the river of your litter and fishing line.
